The NZL women started day two with a draw against Germany in their final game of pool play, leaving them ranked 2nd. Their 2nd versus 3rd semi-final would be another game against Germany, with the 1st/4th semi-final being a contest between Great Britain and France.
Late morning a typhoon blew in and games were postponed after the entire media centre and physical therapy room became airbourne and flew in to the water. All games were rescheduled and lorries and buses arrived to relocate competitors, boats, and floating goals to a nearby 50m swimming pool.
The NZL vs. GER semi-final was finally held many hours after the originally scheduled time and was a hard fought match between very even sides. At full time the score was one all, and it continued for five periods of extra time (43 minutes of game time) to reach a result in favour of GER.
This match probably determined all three medals in the women's category with NZL and GER both physically and mentally exhausted going in to their respective final and bronze medal matches.
Final results (women): 1st GBR; 2nd GER; 3rd FRA; 4th NZL; 5th TPE; 6th AUS
Final results (men): 1st FRA; 2nd NED; 3rd AUS; 4th ITA; 5th ESP; 6th TPE
